This Bristol-based four-piece boasts a truly international fan base that has seen them take their cellophane masks half way round the world and back. This is the twentieth date on a European tour launching their highly aclaimed new album ASTRONAUTILUS. The tour has taken in Bremen-Musikfest, Lille, Berlin, Cork Jazz Festival, Brussels, Rotterdam, Istanbul and Panceva (it's in Russia). They've just had five days off then after Derby they finish the tour at the Richard-Wagner-Saal Bayreuth then Fontaine and Toulouse. Derby Jazz keeps good company. Made up of Portishead rhythm masters JIM BARR (bass) and CLIVE DEAMER (drums), PETE JUDGE (trumpet) and JAKE McMURCHIE (saxophones), their new album still shows the inpiration of Ornette Coleman but also sees them working with an array of effects units, squelching electronics and increasingly adventurous beats. GTB have forged a unique signature sound that defies easy classification, yet never looses sight of thumping tunes, monstrously infectious beats or joyous collective sponteneity. Prepare to be teased, beguiled, soothed, spooked, jolted and ultimately uplifted.
