The SoulDeep Fusion Trio + One create a potent mix of the hottest electric jazz with ingredients provided entirely by musicians based in Derbyshire. Drummer George Grignon grew up in a house of jazz listening to his dad's LPs. A veteran of the Derby music scene who has worked in jazz, metal and his own soul bands since the 1970s. Keyboard maestro Matt Ratcliffe from Wirksworth played in all sorts of bands and attended lots of Derby Jazz gigs before changing his life by taking a BA in Jazz at Birmingham Conservatoire as a mature student. Since graduating he’s become one of the region’s busiest jazz pianists. Matt also runs Derby Jazz’ monthly PLAYJAZZ sessions. Bass master Ricky Campbell from Derby, started playing electric bass in his early teens on Gospel tunes at his mothers church, went on to p!ay funk, latin and jazz fusion with Carl Stanley and Supernatural Santana Band before joining SoulDeep Fusion Trio.
