‘Ambitious, extended, multi-textured pieces, in which she skilfully deploys larger forces, showcase a considerable and – most important – highly individual instrumental and compositional talent’ - Chris Parker, London Jazz News. ‘Her opalescent flugelhorn carried strong echoes of Kenny Wheeler’ - Fred Grand, Jazz Journal Tipped as a rising star by Jazzwise and Time Out magazines, Yazz Ahmed’s 2017 album “La Saboteuse” is widely judged to be UK jazz album of the year, blending western and Middle Eastern influences. Expect undulating rhythms and melody resonant with the sounds and sensations of the Middle East, and sonorous trumpet lines. Since releasing Finding My Way Home in 2011, British-Bahraini trumpet player, Yazz Ahmed, has emerged as a distinctive voice on the UK Jazz scene, both as a soloist and composer. Her latest album, La Saboteuse, is a deep exploration of her mixed heritage and her growing interest in sound design and electronic effects.
