In 2010 Tony Kofi spent some time in New York recording an album with Jamaaladeen Tacuma and the father of the modern free jazz movement Ornette Coleman. This was a unique accolade for a UK saxophonist. Hanging out and playing with Ornette was an inspirational high for Tony who had come into Ornette's orbit through his work over the previous few years with The World Saxophone Quartet and the Jamaaladeen Tacuma Quartet. This trio has been together for a few years now playing music from across the history of modern jazz but for this concert they are focusing on the music of Ornette Coleman and particularly the music he made in the mid 1960s in his trio with David Izenzon and Charles Moffett.
