Arnie Somogyi's Scenes of the City - the Music of Charles Mingus

A repertoire, rather than a tribute band, Scenes in the City, led by Arnie Somogyi, combines the talent of some of the UK's leading jazz musicians. with compositions by Charles Mingus, some of jazz’s greatest tunes. “All the musicians are master craftsmen. Somogyi and Tracey comprise a formidable driving force, Edwards contributes varied, lyrical episodes and the three horns provide enthralling improvisations†- JAZZ JOURNAL The first album Arnie Somogyi owned was Mingus’ “Ah Um†it sparked a life of jazz and a deep feeling for the music of one of jazz’ greatest composers. Over the years Arnie has lead several bands playing original material but his playing and approach to jazz has always stayed true to the swinging, bluesy, gospel soaked, turbulent and dramatic music of Charles Mingus
