DERBY JAZZ EQUALITY POLICY

1. DERBY JAZZ is committed to Equal Opportunities and will not discriminate against anyone, regardless of ethnic origin, religious beliefs, gender, sexuality, age or disability.

2. No activities undertaken by DERBY JAZZ will contravene the initial statement regarding discrimination.

3. DERBY JAZZ will work with its core partners to ensure that its audiences, participants in education projects, management and volunteer groups increasingly reflect the ethnic, gender, age and disability profile of the community it serves.

4. The venues at which DERBY JAZZ and promotes events, offers education and holds meetings should be accessible to all sections of the community.

5. DERBY JAZZ will work with its core partners to combat racial, disability, gender and age stereotypes and issues and to make audiences and participants aware of the diversity of the jazz community.

6. All activities will be publicised as soon as is practically possible in appropriate media in order that people outside the organisation can benefit and become involved.

7. Activities will run to a predetermined time-scale and will be priced to suit appropriate target groups and individual participants.

8. Volunteers should be offered reimbursement of expenses such as travel and child care to enable them to attend meetings and undertake work for DERBY JAZZ and its core partners.

9. Working with its core partners DERBY JAZZ will collaborate with organisations representing minorities and the disadvantaged to increase the accessibility of its activities.

10. DERBY JAZZ will develop a biennial Equality Action Plan.

11. DERBY JAZZ will monitor, review and modify its activities, and those of its core partners, from an equal opportunities perspective.
